Chloe and Cooper

Just before Christmas, this post came across my feed on Facebook. Desperation. It's the holidays and everyone is busy with the holidays and going out of town. It's hard to get dogs out of the shelter, but they keep coming in. The comments noted that someone could take them, but not for 8 days, and that might be too late. Soooo..... (I am being sheepish), without consulting the Musician, I said that we would hold them for 8 days until the other foster could take them. 

The Musician rolled his  eyes and sighed when I told him the good news. It actually took a couple of days for the neuter and transport, but Cooper (not Gavin) and Chloe (nee Gwen) came into our home for the holidays. Apparently, three dogs came in together and another rescue pulled Gavin. Cooper and Chloe were kenneled together and loved each other. Chloe was already spayed, Cooper needed neutering before he could come out. Thank Goodness that SA ROCKS bathed them before coming to our house. Word was that theses two were among the dirtiest, stinkiest, dogs in a long time.

We had the little ones for about a week. The foster hold fell through, but other arrangements were made. I'm always amazed at how different the personalities can be. They really did get along great and were mostly pretty easy to manage. Having them as a pair I think really helped. They were housetrained, thank goodness, and didn't mind cuddling up in the crate together when we were gone or to sleep at night. When they were out, they could play together or be pretty independent.

Cooper never made it to the SA ROCKS webpage and had an adoption application by the first of the year. He wanted nothing but contact. He wanted to be on your lap or in your face almost all the time. Cooper is the snuggler of the pair. He knew all about people food and had no qualms about stealing it off your plate if you looked away. He didn't play with our girls much, but did like to roll on the floor by Chloe. It was interesting, they didn't wrestle play, just played parallel. 

Chloe went to a different foster home and is still looking for a furever home. She's the feisty one of the pair.It's really hard to know how much time they were together, because, although they seemed to really love each other, they seemed just fine apart and in other homes with other dogs. Chloe LOVES to claim pillows and blankets as her own and it borders on puppy pornography how excited she gets. She really likes males ... male dogs, male humans. But, she wants to be the dominant female and gets snappy with other female dogs (not female people). She is very playful with males. One of my favorite things with her is her perpetual "come hither" look. I think I knew some girls just like her in high school. Ooops, did I say that? Yes, I did. You know the type ... wants all the attention from all the boys, but maybe not the nicest (and maybe a little mean) to girls who might be a threat for the attention. I won't mention the loose morals, though. Anyway, enough of me being a mean and catty girl myself. Chloe is a sweetheart with a funny, feisty personality. She is housetrained and gets along great with male dogs. And, you have to love her face. She's still available, so if you're looking, you can find her at SA ROCKS!!!
